So, on Sunday The Funtime Frankies made the trip up to Mitton Hall near Clitheroe to be the wedding band for Cat and Ewan’s evening reception! (Not Frankies keyboard player Ewan. A different, cooler Ewan.)

Most people would describe Sunday as a day of rest but this was not the case for this wedding party. All of the guests sang until they were hoarse; and to paraphrase Chic, everybody danced!

To business! Messrs Lacey, Cummings, Gilford and Simpson (me) set about on their mission to create the ultimate evening of energetic, high octane entertainment for everyone to enjoy, but not before accompanying Cat and Ewan’s first dance, the thoughtfully chosen Ramones song “Baby I Love You”.

This song created exactly the right atmosphere for a celebration and was definitely a first dance to remember. The sense of occasion was certainly mirrored as the wedding party joined in with the dancing, awwh, isn’t that nice?

The party continued with numerous Funtime classics, a selection of rock and roll tunes, and The Killers’ “Mr Brightside” to end the first half. The energy of the wedding guests certainly helped the band rock their socks off (Although, this is not something to be joked about in our line of work. Many musicians have blisters on their feet following sock rocking accidents, or SokRok accidents.)

At this point, a nod to the DJ, Ryan from DFC for keeping everyone on the dance floor.

The second set was as energetic as the first! Perhaps slightly too energetic for a room with a sound limiter (Sorry!). Nonetheless, we adjusted the volume a little and carried on with the party and the guests didn’t seem to notice a problem. Although the volume level was reduced, when it came to tunes like Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer,” the dancers showed little care for the limiter and sang their hearts out! I really enjoyed that bit to be fair…

Despite the sound issues in the second set, everybody had a great time. It’s always reassuring to hear that people enjoyed the music, especially as a number of the wedding guests were musicians themselves!

What did the bride and groom have to say about the night? Well our bride this evening said that she is usually very camera-shy, but because she was so happy with the band’s performance she was keen to share her review of the evening!

Finally, a massive congratulations to Cat and Ewan, and thanks for having us!
